Six Degrees of Separation

Apparently, any one of us is separated from any other person by only six degrees of separation. I don't know where I had first heard of that. Perhaps in a movie. However, when one thinks of separation, and about intimacy and all nuances in-between, one gets a rather voluminous tome. I saw this girl a couple of days ago and gave her a ride. The strangest thing is that I don't know her name. I also learnt that she is defending her thesis in a couple of days and then she will vanish, like a puff of smoke, into oblivion. Then there are others, of whom I know names. And I also know that some among those like adopting children, while others who want children, and still others who think children are cute to look at while asleep, while the greatest menace while awake. And then there are others of whom, although I know names, knowing where we stand is the most difficult thing ever. Degrees of separation they say! Yeah. Degrees of separation... I concur. But six? Where did one come up with that ?

The Uniform

The Karate Uniform that I had been waiting for finally arived. I simply love it. I kinda hate the white uniforms - always liked black. It also happens to be my favourite color. Anyway, its cool that I got it at last. I still have to figure out how to tie the belt properly though :)Posted by Picasa

Silent Night

Every so often, Life stops you at your tracks and forces you to heed its magnificence. The clock on the computer read 1:17 AM, when I sauntered down to the kitchen for a drink. The blinds in the living room were open. And I was presented with a most wonderful view. All my efforts at photography failed to capture the flurries of snow sifting through the clouds and descending gracefully onto the quiet night, failed to capture the feeling of bliss and reverence and wonder.
For all this, I know I'll have a crappy day driving to school tomorrow.

On Movies and I

I saw two movies in two days. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and The House of Wax. I liked neither. Harry Potter because the very reason why Harry Potter was novel had become a passe and rather prosaic at this point of time. And the House of Wax was the same old wine in a new bottle. A psycho chasing teenagres.
Maybe its just me. Maybe I am getting old. :P

Blogging

I got a suggestion for creating a blog…from two people. One from my dear sister and another from Ajish.
My sister wanted me to write about myself, just coz she likes reading my blogs during her free time, while Ajish suggested that I could write about my progress in research. Thus, two blogs burgeoned on a single day … one to pamper the caprice of my sister, and the other to a more practical end.
